Seems unlikely. The other side's new string of leadership candidates seem more concerned with the important issues... like having sex-ed classes taught by parents at home with Barbie dolls.

And, more concretely, I think it's unlikely the party of "let's make government as small as we can" would advocate for more government the minute it takes office.

Urban development is a major issue for the PC party. They understand the value that the development industry brings to the province in jobs and tax revenue.

This is on the docket at City Council today - ahead of the LPAT meeting next month. there was a mediation meeting last September.

http://app.toronto.ca/tmmis/viewAgendaItemHistory.do?item=2019.CC2.3

On December 18, 2018, Alterra sent a with prejudice settlement letter to the City Solicitor (Public attachment 1) in the context of the mediation and subsequent discussions between the parties. The current with prejudice settlement proposal is for a nine storey, 20 unit building. It has an overall height of 36.5 metres to the top of the mechanical penthouse. The settlement proposal provides for a substantial increase in the setback to the west and additional built form changes to address transition and privacy

Worth noting also that the solicitor is recommending approval of the settlement:
The City Solicitor recommends that:

1. City Council adopt the confidential instructions to staff in Confidential Attachment 1.
2. City Council authorize the public release of the confidential recommendations contained in the Confidential Attachment 1 to this report if adopted by City Council.
3. City Council direct that the remainder of Confidential Attachment 1 remain confidential in its entirety, as it contains advice which is subject to solicitor-client privilege.

Could anyone speak for the construction cost of the underground parking? I would like to learn more about that.

Without knowing about this specific underground parking - the construction cost can vary greatly depending on a number of factors.

Foundation system, shoring system, water conditions (requiring dewatering), parking stackers, car elevators can all affect the cost.

Our cost guide would range anywhere from $110/sf to $170/sf for the parking area. Something this small (also contains a parking stacker system) would definitely be on the higher end of that range.

Not to be pedantic but the City Solicitor isn’t recommending approval of the settlement, rather that Council adopt the recommendations in the confidential attachment.

It looks like the parking stackers were deleted and replaced with car elevators (which simply replace the drive-down ramps).
