I had just moved into the area in the 1980s, and I had never heard of Hooker Harveys. I was walking around checking out the neighbourhood, and the very first time I saw the Harveys, I went inside for a bite to eat. It was full of good-looking but very provocatively dressed women (and a number of mean-looking guys). I later mentioned that to a friend, who said "Oh, that must have been Hooker Harveys!"

That's my tiny story about the place.

Next on the list to go (I hope) is that horrible Hooters.

Hope they retain the houses- these are relics of Jarvis' past as the Euclid Avenue/Square Mile of Toronto, and it would be nice to see these restored.

On another note I wonder about the lot where the gas station was next to the Keg Mansion...what's going on there? Is there already a site for that on here?

Nothing worth starting a thread for. They've erected the steel frame of a new single-storey retail building right on the corner, which (optimistically, based on the framing) will have an entrance out to the sidewalk. If the building does have a street-facing entrance and is more than just blank walls against the sidewalk it'll be an improvement over what was there.

There's a proposed elevation facing Jarvis below. It's absolutely nothing to be excited about, but as a placeholder for the lot it's better than it was.

Unfortunate it's such a large assembly. Projects tend to be a lot more interesting here the smaller the lot size.

I'm happy to see the heritage homes retained, but I feel like the site plan is wrong. I'd rather see the larger tower on Jarvis as opposed to the Mutual/Gerrard corner. And I'm sure it would be expensive, but I'd like to see the houses moved together to give them a better relation to each other. Either have them closer together on Jarvis, or move them to face onto Gerrard

The location of the tower feels right to me. Neill Wycik next door means it fits in more on the Gerrard side than on the Jarvis frontage, which has less of a high rise character.

This proposal looks surprisingly contextual and appropriate from a density perspective, actually. Quite a rarity given the stream of absurd proposals we've seen recently.

Off topic, but I don't see a thread - briefly, everything torn down on site, soil removed for remediation, old tanks removed, new tanks installed. Gas pumping stations have been relocated slightly and an "On the Go" type store being built at the corner, including a Timmy's in there. Should be done in about two weeks or so.
