New pre-application in Burlington:
The proposed development features an 11 storey C shaped building with a central court. The proposal will have 341 square metres of community space and 280 square metres of retail on the ground floor. A total of 338 units are proposed with various unit sizes and types ranging from bachelor units to two-bedroom+ dens. The ground floor includes two-storey, three-bedroom townhouses.

@Paclo beat me to it! haha. Here's a zoomed out map. The site is under one kilometre from Burlington GO and the Burlington Centre mall. As you can see in the streetview picture from Paclo, Fairview has had some good work done in the last few years in preparation for these inevitable developments, with very wide sidewalks and new trees planted along the entire length between the mall and Brant street. As of right now the grocery situation isn't great, with only a Walmart and a Goodness Me within walking distance, but hopefully we will see a major grocery store go into one of the developments across the road eventually.

It’s about time this lot, long used for storage, found a new purpose in life. But this proposal is going to be a lonely residential enclave for a while. Between Drury and Guelph there is no residential……only potential (including current large properties on Guelph Line). And to the west you only have the stalled (?) redevelopment on the western corner of Drury Lane and Fairview. And to the west of that, the current and building condos at the GO train station. I’m not sure why you would not develop this site to this height, but as commercial and office space (which is needed in the area).

Honestly pretty happy with this. 247sq. m retail space would be perfect for a little coffee shop or something. Although it would be nice to see a second retail space on the other side, it's understandable that they're being conservative about it considering the current lack of walkable residential around.

338 residential units, 423 parking spaces are technically required but only 370 are proposed, including 12 barrier-free spaces, with an additional 42 visitor spaces. Bicycle parking meets the minimum requirement of 189.
 
This is a nice looking concept in an area that is simply just run down and in need of a facelift. I look forward to hearing more about this project

City staff is recommending approval of the development on 88 acres of property, which is currently being used as a storage facility for vehicles, boats and trailers.
Residents cited concerns over building heights – particularly those on Barclay Road, which is directly adjacent to the development – impacting privacy, gridlock and concerns about the type of development, which some say will turn into rental units.

I know the city is also making a decision on the 3 tower development on Graham's Lane today as well. I'm sort of confused by the article describing this land as 88 acres though... maybe they meant 0.88 acres.

This section of Fairview seems destined for major development regardless, so i don't think "precedent" concerns are a real issue here. What is more valuable to the city, a terrible looking storage lot or a multi purpose residential/retail development? I wouldn't be surprised if this is held up in the OLT though like most developments..

88 acres it is not. This is a reasonable height given what else is going on along Fairview and what we should see happening along a transit corridor (Burlington Transit with GO within walking distance). There are some legitimate concerns about traffic on Fairview at certain times of the day. Fairview ia an east-west connector, a major commercial/retail sector, and a frequent overspill route for the QEW. Some of this the city can address, some of it is outside of their control, and mostly the residents are going to have to adjust to the fact that their smaller city is growling and becoming gradually denser.

However the fact that a total of 6 negative comments were received, should indicate that most have no issues with the proposal. And if them developed units do become rental units, so much the better. Rental units below luxury levels are in demand,
 
This project was approved by city council on Tuesday to go from 6 storey to 12 storey.

I think as @ojloaf noted above, and this article reiterates, it's approved for 13 storeys.
