New project in the AIC:

This is located on the grounds of what is now a United Church. Given the suggested in the above of an integrated Church in the podium of thew new building, it seems likely the existing Church will be demolished.

This is located in the North-West Quadrant of the Don Mills Ring Road (The Donway), north and west of Lawrence and Don Mills.

Site size: ~9600m2

Commentary: The description above is curious in that it appears to be profit driven, where many recent (and upcoming) United Church owned properties seem to aiming for rental housing with an affordable component.

The Residential GFA over the prescribed height will not cover the majority of this footprint. Possible we may see retention of some buildings here, or perhaps a separate phase 2.

I'm a member of the congregation. This redevelopment is a legacy project. As noted in Albert C's post, the rebuild will include space for the Church and the goal is to have a fund that will allow it to operate and provide services that are needed in the community for many years into the future. The choice of partnering with Options was to make affordable housing available in Don Mills.

Thank you for sharing all this information. I am super excited about this development. I will definitely be following this one. Hoping rezoning gets approved and they can move forward on this project soon.

Increase in Unit-Counts... 👍

The church is 230 Donway, but what is the big building that extends around it? The main part of the church doesn't connect to it but is that building in use?

@Paclo

This one had a resubmission, generally technical in nature in July ' 24.

In the Cover Letter, the proponent was hoping to go to September NYCC for approval, but it was not on the agenda.

...not meaning to be blasphemous here, but that cladding appears to be a bit spandrelicious though. >.<
