This is encouraging. I think the "old main street downtown" areas in the GTA have been somewhat undervalued in recent years and can be redeveloped thoughtfully.
363 residential units (most being one-bedroom units), 225 parking spaces and 255 m2 of retail space. Going to Planning & Development Committee on July 26.
The new rendering below shows how it would look from Church Street W, from the GO Station parking lot. Hopefully this helps up the expectations, as the Dominion Skate Building redevelopment on Railroad Street is looking rather disappointing with the grey glass, spandrel, and mullions. (Maybe the balconies will improve things there, at least.)
Yes, even though some of the highrise projects being built or proposed – like 45 Railroad – are purpose-built rentals. Both Stella and Duo are under construction at Steeles and McMurchy, and there’s the MontVert buildings underway.
The last mini-boom of condo development in Downtown Brampton was nearly 20 years ago, when the buildings on George Street (Renaissance), Market Square, and Queen East (Park Place) were built.
Brampton has not been much of a condo development market, but things are changing.
The floor plans are now available. Below are the ground floor, 4th floor (which has most resident amenities) and the 11th floor. There are two retail units at ground level.
