I wouldn't call a deep blue glass building with great reflections a soulless glass box.
I wouldn't call nice glass a saving grace for a building that literally has no architecture. This just looks like a huge glass blob/disappointment right at a prime spot on the lake.

That’s quite the generalization. It’s a beautiful building. Love the thoughtful notches and slick dark massing. It’s quite striking in person.

This proves to me that tasteful quality cladding, with decently refined color, level of reflectiveness and architectural elements included in it (however subtle they may be) could make any glass box tower in Toronto appear sophisticated, appealing, motivating and even exciting regardless of how bland/simple/boxy it is structurally. I would probably put a simple structure with superb material/cladding on par with a complex twisting tower with a wow factor in it but with very crappy materials otherwise.
