Building a 35 story building near a highway seems like the worst Idea someone ever had
May I introduce you to... Toronto.

While 'nobody' may want to see the Cube House destroyed, nobody seems keen to pay to move it. It is also unclear (to me anyway) if it is actually in good enough condition to be disassembled and moved anywhere. No one really wanna see the Cube House being destroyed. I think they can accommodate this piece in one of the developing Waterfront area. Either the Villier Island, Ontario Place, Quayside, or Rees Park. Either that or I can also see it being moved to become part of the Alexandria Park Revitalization or have it as part of the part in Kensington. I think all of these areas are a much better fit and allow people to appreciate the quirkiness of this structure.
I have witnessed a whole 2/3-storeys wall façade being moved in and out in Toronto in one piece, and it is hard to believe that the cube house cannot be move and reassembled. While 'nobody' may want to see the Cube House destroyed, nobody seems keen to pay to move it. Of course it COULD be moved ( SeeI have witnessed a whole 2/3-storeys wall façade being moved in and out in Toronto in one piece, and it is hard to believe that the cube house cannot be move and reassembled.
The part that is probably difficult is the funding. I think if some artist wants to create a piece of art with this, there can be some assemble of funding.
Moving it to Villier Island would probably be the close and the most sensible IMHO.
My understanding is that Relic Park is going after the Classical style, similar to Guild Woods. The Cube House is not going to match the style there. How about Relic Park? Or putting it somewhere in The Portlands? On the water somewhere?
Martin Trainor, who is the long-term and now (I think) only tenant told me several years ago that it was not in great shape as the owners had done virtually zero maintenance for 20 years. It may now be in the situation where a demolition would occur 'spontaneously' if only one piece were removed! Everything can probably be disassembled but costs can be huge and the $$$$.are what is lacking. Is the cube built in a way that it can be disassembled?
