I would love for someone to do a time lapse over a few weeks so we could get a good idea about how much the tower really leans.

So just to be clear, the tower does not lean, which suggests permanently, in one direction. It reacts to the wind on any particular day, deflecting, and Khristopher and others are correct, it's not visible to the naked eye.

That said, if they do have a laser set up in the core to measure the deflection I'd be curious to know what the range of readings is. If it was swaying inches I wouldn't be surprised at all, but does it actually push into feet on a really windy day?

I think that I started all this CN Tower sway talk...and I'm sorry because my comment on my own photo was meant to be a joke. I realize that my photo is askew and NOT the CN Tower lol.

But all this info has been enlightening, however, and I love hearing anything about my favorite structure in the City ;)

Well this is what google says:

Q.What is the maximum 'sway' movement at the top of the CN observation Tower, Toronto?

A.In winds of 120mph, with 200mph gusts, the Sky Pod of the CN Tower would sway 3ft 4in from centre, and the Tower Sphere would sway 1ft 7in.

^ You would be surprised what even a building sway of 3-6 inches could do to a photo shot from 345 meters up with 30 second exposure. The sway's effects are exponential the further you are away from your focal object...ok this is turning into its own thread. We need an Ice related post to break this cycle :p

Yup, that oughtta do it. I hope everyone with a view of the west tower is keeping a close eye on that top portion, the first one to submit a photo of the roof element wins a nickel (the new lowest denomination, yay!) unless of course you would prefer a rare collector's item "1 cent piece" as we will all surely call them one day in our autumn years....

+1... I'll pay a dime, BTW... As an out of city type, I'm really excited to see some posts with pics...
