The Well (retail)

Bobby Flay's Bobby's Burgers will be opening at the Well this summer. They will occupy the former East Tea Can space inside Wellington Market. And expected to be the first of 65 locations that they're planning to open in Canada

Yeah, it's basically your typical "elevated" burger experience with premium pricing. A burger, fries, and drink combo will likely take you into the high teens or low 20s price range. I noticed Bobby's Burgers when I was in Vegas a few years ago but didn't feel too compelled to try at the time.

They'll probably do okay at the Well, as critical mass of local population continues to grow around it. Along with the Well acting as a de facto gathering place for Jays fans and such. Although, having plans to open 65 locations throughout Canada is pretty ambitious. Not sure the Bobby Flay namesake is really that recognizable to to the general public as much as they think it does. Maybe among Gen X and Y people, but otherwise to most folks he's just "another American chef guy".

They’ll have one a block north of The Well at King and Brant. Far enough to not really be competition for The Well, close enough that they wouldn’t open another location there

To add more info: this is at Majesty's Pleasure location. Granted, this is a good spot for a fast food joint with the old King Street Pilot patios still in place but I'm not looking forward to the collection of Dude Bros and Influencer Girls clogging up the sidewalk.

I’ve got an invite to pick a restaurant at the well for lunch next week. I’m not paying, and price is not relevant. What’s the best pick? Lulu is the only place I’ve been before.

Or I could just suggest Le Select.
Pick the most expensive place and order the most expensive dish, obviously.

Just thought of a funny story - years ago when my company still took our team out for quarterly fancy dinners, we wound up at Cluny in the Distillery District once (on my suggestion ;)). True to the philosophy I expressed above, I ordered a full on absinthe fountain for our table (under the guise of sharing it with everyone, but selfishly I knew most of the others would likely not partake), causing a rather quizzical expression on the face of the director picking up the tab. One co-worker sitting next to me leaned over and said, "Wow, zero f**** given - I love it!"

🤣
