simply Dan and I took a long TTC ride out to The Guild the other week and quite enjoyed the place. We were there at dusk and it has a real eerie quality (probably an ideal place for a Hallowe'en scare).

I couldn't be bothered cataloguing which pieces belonged to which former buildings so I'm just going to post the pictures un-captioned. However, the old log cabin near the end is apparently the oldest building in Scarborough.

Enjoy!

While it's nice that some architectural elements of these spectacular buildings were saved, it's despicable that they were torn down in the first place. Especially considering some of the blights that replaced them (Temple Building for the Queen-Bay Centre, I'm looking at you). Surely the 60s and 70s are the most regrettable periods of development in my eyes.

Thank you for sharing these. Right in my neighborhood. Im still saddened at the loss of the Studio. I was there two weeks back, and noticed a lot of the classic lanterns have been either stolen, or taken away from the side of the building. But also noticed one of the pieces of artwork is back.
Thanks again. I have a gallery on my website dedicated to the guild here>

I hope it is ok to post this....if not, please remove it.

You are more than welcome to post pics here. We welcome it!

Thank you Darkstar. I did not want to step on any toes. Im on a few photography forums , and some get a little excited when you post a link in their threads.
I have lived in Scarborough all my life near the Guild Inn, and have seen the decline of this once fabulous place. I just hope they can salvage what is left of it.
Thanks again.

:)

I've never been to this place. Are there little plaques describing these stone remnants and where they came from?

Wow :(

This place must have been AMAZING!

I was going to go on an Adventure there, but just realized everything worth seeing -- crazy 60's hotel, historic hotel -- is gone :(

Too bad it wasn't saved entirely and marketted as 'Toronto's Only Ghost Town' ...but hey, in Toronto, money ALWAYS talks!
