THE END OF THE WORLD!

It was more acute than we thought. The suffering was unequal, but contained.

I was in Willowdale at the time. Many major streets were closed due to flooding such as Cummer, Steeles, and Bayview. But the most interesting thing I saw was the subway bridge over the Don River at Leslie and Sheppard, where the water level had actually risen above the bottom of the bridge. People on the subway at the time had no idea that they were travelling through, rather than over, the Don River.

That storm last Thursday - I was woken up throughout the night by ice and branches from the big maple tree out front clattering onto the skylights and roof. When I looked outside in the morning the street was littered with branches. And the freezing rain was totally uncalled for. The natural world can be so irritating at times. I hope they do something about it.
