Why isn't Lyft here yet?
They're probably waiting to see what the outcome w/ Uber will be.
But a bit more info here: http://www.metronews.ca/news/toront...-lyft-sent-lobbyist-to-toronto-city-hall.html

Lyft has often let Uber fight the legal battles and then swooped in to compete. I agree with smuncky that it's a bit wait and see for now.Why isn't Lyft here yet?
Why can't we have one app for all services? Kind of like the BB Hub that combines all email/txt/etc info in one location. A combined taxi/uber/etc app.
I rarely use taxis so I'm a bit out of the loop if this tech exists already.
Now, I've got an idea for a biz that would kill uber.
I'm having some rather mixed feelings about this new service. I kind of understand making an effort to serve transit desserts like Liberty Village. Not happy though to see them serving West Queen West...the last thing anyone needs is for even more car congestion on Queen Street at peak times, which will delay already-delayed transit even more. As much as I want this to motivate the TTC to improve service, I worry that it will instead degrade existing service.Uber has added 2 more routes now for uberhop.

The 141 is sort of in the way of that. It's as fast as you want but not as often as you want, I think?TTC should offer a frequent bus service from Mt. Pleasant North to Financial District/Union Station, via Jarvis.
It would be time competitive with the subway.
By far not. According to the Service Summary, there are only four Southbound trips per weekday, and only runs between 7:10AM and 8:35AM. And it is an express bus with limited stops (perhaps not a bad thing). The 141 is sort of in the way of that. It's as fast as you want but not as often as you want, I think?
The Uber app is a combined app, too as it can hail taxis too (but only for taxi / taxi companies that authorize Uber to do so). I feel, this should be legally legislated -- force taxi companies into Open Data and let third party apps hail them too -- complete with driver reviews, prepayment, and pre-routing -- so one can make a taxi ride without needing to say a word to the driver. Why can't we have one app for all services?
