TARION AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

11,000 Home Buyers Determine Builder Award Recipients

(Toronto, ON, August 28, 2007) – Tarion Warranty Corporation (‘Tarion’) today announced the finalists for the 2007 Tarion Awards of Excellence which recognize residential home builders for their commitment to customer service.

“Each of the Tarion Awards of Excellence finalists has achieved best in class after-sales service, as determined by one of the largest home buyer surveys conducted in Canada,†said Greg Gee, President and CEO of Tarion Warranty Corporation. “The Tarion Awards of Excellence are the only awards in Ontario that focus exclusively on a builder’s after-sales service performance. The awards program that is now in its seventeenth year, however, takes on an even greater significance for 2007 as the finalists were determined based exclusively on the opinions of more than 11,000 new home buyersâ€.

Recipients of the 2007 Tarion Awards of Excellence were identified based on the results of a survey conducted by Decima Research with 53,000 Ontario consumers who took possession of a new home between January 1 and December 31, 2006. Over 11,000 consumers responded to the survey either by mail or online. Award winners will be announced at a black tie gala event to be held in Toronto on Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the Royal Ontario Museum in the spectacular, new Michael Lee Chin Crystal.

Builders compete in four award categories: Small Volume, Medium Volume, Large Volume, and High-Rise. To be eligible for an award, builders must have had at least five new home possessions during 2006 and a specified number of completed questionnaires must have been received by Decima.
