1. My Strasbourg series begins at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame. It is the most prominent building in the city, and is quite a sight!

22. The cathedral features prominently above the city!

23. The name of this city doesn't sound French at all, and the building styles look something else altogether.

34. The bright sun shone against the history. Strasbourg was a very walkable tourist attraction, and there were lots of tourists! I tried to keep away from the crowds so the photos show an empty city. Reality is far different from what the photos show!

46. I thought these windows would have turned into hotels, but it appears that has not been the case.

What a beautiful city. Too bad I didn't have enough time to go up the cathedral tower. We only had a few hours, and had to hit the spas in Germany that afternoon.

Strasbourg,France pics...a very interesting city!

HKS: Good pics from Strasbourg,France beginning with the Notre Dame Cathedral-the detail there is just amazing!
I wonder if there is some German influence there noting some of the detail but it has a European look to it...
That street named RAPE would never go over here in North America...
Even though you tried to avoid the tourists you show a very lively City...

Such beautiful buildings.

It's hard to imagine the corruption, slavery and blatent lies pulled off by the church to get these things built. Watching the story of Chartes cathedral made me almost sick to my stomach. These magnificent buildings have very dark stories to tell indeed.

Still they're a damn good sight for sore eyes, nice pics.

We got to Strasbourg in the fall of 2008 and we were really impressed. There are lots of good times to be had there.

Yes, more Germanic looking than French (the city was re-deeded to France in the Treaty of Versailles). There is an open air to the city, with lots of people places, and several streets cobblestoned and closed to vehicular traffic. Did you look at the tram that laces through the city?

This city was a great stop for us after touring the Alsace wine region :)

Strasbourg was never on my list of French cities to visit. Done Paris already and would love to go south to Lyon and then the Cote d'Azur but after seeing these pictures, Strasbourg is definitely added to my list. Thanks for posting them.

Yes - I saw a few trams as they sliced through a part of the historic core. We were on our way into and out of the Black Forest and made a slight detour to visit Strasbourg.
