Elora is an historic town along the Grand River. It is a popular destination in the summer and the town is normally quite vibrant and filled with people, but at 8 am on a rainy Wednesday morning I was the only tourist to be seen. Last winter I presented a tour of Elora's twin, Fergus. The two towns are only about a mile or two apart and both have many fine stone buildings and some beautiful scenery as the Grand River rushes through the Elora Gorge.

Beautiful collection!

Some parts of the downtown look almost European. It's unlike any typical Main Street Ontario I've ever seen.

I had a chance to go there with a friend who loved to shop for antiques. We did that, lunched, then hit this old gravel pit to jump from huge heights into the water. What a memorable day, and a very memorable town. Thanks for the sensational photos!

Thanks for the pix! Does anyone know if there are plans for the complex in this picture?

My parents live just outside of Elora, and I love visiting there. Both Elora and Fergus are great little towns, and I'm seriously considering moving there, or would, if I had a profession that was small-town doable. The architecture is really interesting, and it is well maintained. Elora must be the wealthiest small town in Ontario.

Great photos. I was in Elora on Canada Day and there were a lot of people there. The title of the thread reminded me of that trip as we were visited the Gorge.

Elora: Another fascinating Ontario town...

Flar: Another good tour! Elora looks good-with lots of brick and stone architecture-I like it! I will mention these pics:
#2-this looks almost European...(Not that I would know)
#6-Nice place!
#12-Now THAT is a post office!
#16-A restoration project perhaps?
#43-A nice house with a stone wall out front.
#50,55-Really nice brick houses-My kind of house!
(Cue up the Commodores back in the mid 70s singing "She's a Brick House"..) I can't get that song out of my mind now...
