Singapore is a recent beneficiary from the desire of many Honk Kong residents and Western expats to get the hell out of New China. A lot of Western corporations are reviewing all the possible locations to relocate their APAC branches and Singapore is the natural alternative, but they had several impediments in the way; the archaic stance on homosexuality was one of them. This shows they are serious about being the "new Hong Kong" for the West.
