Shopper's World Danforth (RioCan, ?s, ?)

Rumours of Canadian Tire sound convenient but, as others have said, redevelopment of the property is years if not a decade away. The development site is large enough to keep the current store open while a new podium level store is built. CT has done it before.

The current proposal by CT involves a development footprint that would preclude a temporary store on site. The whole matter is complicated by the fact the stores sits on two different parcels of land, with two different owners, who have two distinct redevelopment proposals.
The best hope for the vacated Lowes is a temporary outlet store or Metro wanting to expand.

Metro will not be expanding one of its largest stores in the entire country, if not its largest.......

The Shopper's World store is over 53,000ft2

Occasionally I drive by this site and wonder how ambitious RioCan is going to be when they decided to move forward. It's a long way off, but it keeps me curious given the potential. At minimum, a master planned site is a win given the disjointed scenario happening between main and danforth. At best, hopefully some excellent architectural design that will help the north side of the tracks gain a little more desire-ability and not just density.

Seeing some fresh lobbying here reminded me............

The applicant across VP had a Block Context Plan done that included what this site (Shoppers) might build out like.

This is NOT Riocan's proposal, so far as I know, but I thought it was worth recording in this thread:
