I remember that there was an image of a Toronto street showing how many cars a Toronto streetcar can replace. Please post the image, since it would be helpful. I tried to find that image with no luck.
I notice the image only shows enough people in the street car to fill the available seats. I'd love to see a more realistic picture of the 501 jam-packed from front to back.
Even more realistically, half the motor vehicles would be cabs, couriers and tradespeople all of whom have no intention of boarding that streetcar.Or a car full of people (now that would be a rarity). Realistically there would be only one or two people in the automobiles
Plus you need to add the the shaky smelly guy talking to his inner demons, the fat lady taking two seats clipping her finger nails, the man-boys with the overloud head phones, students with giant backpacks and the cell phone yappers. Add in the summer sweats when jammed in without air con.I notice the image only shows enough people in the street car to fill the available seats. The original, but lower quality images, can be found in the 2008 operating statistics - http://www3.ttc.ca/About_the_TTC/Operating_Statistics/2008.jspFrom the TTC Facebook page.
and if you want to be really picky, that's an ALRV in the pic
