Re Copyrights
I'm no expert on copyright law, but when we go around posting articles form newspapers and the like, we should post the WHOLE ENTREE THING including the blurb about copyrights- ESPECIALLY the blurb about copyrights- if we today we are exchanging ideas and doing research, etc. and doing so for free, thus not in violation fo the law (sort of not in violation), then it is best to footnote the damn thing, and identify the copyright holder! ( certain violation if you don't footnote / ID holder)
When posting an article, click on the 'printer friendly' version, click on 'edit' select all, and copy it to this forum, with all URLs and notices involved. Lets keep our use of copyrighted materials above board and post the entire article, INCLUDING the notice concerning the copyright.

Good advice.

Plus if we get sued, we can claim we got legal advice from you, so you can share in the pain and suffering. :D

I don't believe that we can be sued for exchange of info unless we are charging for it.

Does anyone know the legal details regarding this?

well.. yes and no - what it key is to ID the copyright holder whenever you are using other's work - even if you are not getting paid or doing it for free. Include all links, etc, as well - the newspaper is entitled to have people wander over to their web sight after someone read something here.
ID the copyright holder! Just past in the ENTIRE article from the Printer Friendly version.
POINTZ:
1, doing it for free or for research DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NEVER A COPYRIGHT VIOLATION !!
2, By ID'ing the copyright holder you may be only indication from whom you are stealing
3, but- ID'ing the copyright holder is essential for any 'good faith' defense and also increases the 'academic work/ exchange of ideas' defense - as you are attributing the information to the copyright holder.
4, ID THE COPYRIGHT HOLDER !!!!

One more thing... AND PASTE IN THE WEB LINKS / URL's !! so that people can go and check the article out for themselves, see if there have been letters to the editor about it, etc.
Think of it as a footnote. You need to atribute work and ID the page and publisher, etc. Well, by pasting in the entire printer friendly version, you accomplish the same thing ... AND IT IS EASIER!
