QEW - Mississauga/Credit River Project

I think it was discovered in the spring. I admit it's been longer than I anticipated to complete the archeological dig. I too wonder what it is - it's been months of archeological crews on the site every day.
Don't forget that the dig on the north side took two years to complete, from 2016 to 2017. I suppose they could devote more resources to finish the south side dig faster, but I'm not surprised to see them still digging. Stuff like this takes time.

Ironic that the province will spend $50M+ to speed up Gardiner construction, but this archaeology study will take an entire year. The two projects have similar overall budgets ($300M).

This one has a far smaller impact on traffic as there aren’t long term lane reductions here. the traffic impact here isn’t 0 but it’s relatively minimal.

So I walked along the hydro corridor going through here, completely forgetting that the construction was probably not yet complete.

I looked at the website and now see there's a "fall 2025" newsletter update. It makes it sound like the trails are open now? Did I literally miss this by a couple weeks?!

Finally got an email back about the ped bridge. Unsigned message from the project email (info@qewcreditriver.ca):

The construction of the Nine Creeks Trail between Premium Way and Mississauga Road has been substantially completed and efforts are underway by City of Mississauga, Ministry of Transportation, and Infrastructure Ontario staff, in coordination with Hydro One Networks Inc., to make it safe and available for public use as soon as possible. The opening of the trail is targeted for early 2026. We thank you for your patience and for your interest in this important and exciting Nine Creeks Trail connection over the Credit River.

Further east, closer to the Hurontario off ramp, new drains and pipes have been staged. Once that work is done I guess it will come down to the incomplete middle with the archeological excavation.

That's progress from beginning of November, because that deck was not in place when I was there!
Which deck? If you mean the pedestrian bridge over the QEW, that has been partially decked for over a year. It's not open yet because the pedestrian ramp on the south side is not done.

Ah nevermind, I was misremembering, the unfinished south ramp is what I was thinking of. Kay, no progress.

Don't know when you shot the photo, but its the same as mine shot October 4/25 and the same in 2024

The project has been mostly done waiting on the archeological dig for the better part of a year now. The bridge can't finish until they finish the dig so is sitting in it's current stage.

We need to be watching that archeological hole - when it gets backfilled, the rest of the project should wrap up and fall into place fairly quickly.

I admit I'm getting frustrated at how long it's taking. We are talking about 12+ months at this point - @Tim MacDonald 's photos from last January clearly show the area identified and protected for the dig.. Get on with it!
