President Donald Trump's United States of America

This is a new low for Donald Trump

Thomas Massie is the most decent politician in D.C. He is the living embodiment of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". Trump picked the wrong person to pick on.
To call Massie "most decent" is a bit of a stretch, given that he provided (before his first wife died) one of the most notorious "family gun selfies" in an Xmas card a few years ago. His case is more like an Epstein-triggered "horseshoe theory" akin to MTG & Boebert...

This is an actual tweet by the department of Homeland Security

Yes, I remember that Christmas card. So, what! Americans have the 2nd Amendment, which is a good thing if you understand the reason for 2A which most Canadians don't.

Thomas Massey's life is at risk now. Not only is he going against Trump (who probably had Epstein "whacked" in his prison cell), but he is also going against Israel. He wants to cut off funding to Israel and make AIPAC register as a foreign agent. The last American politician to call for AIPAC to register under FARA was John F. Kennedy! Not long after JFK demanded that AIPAC (actually its forerunner) register under FARA, JFK was assassinated in Dallas. If I was Thomas Massey right now, I would want to be armed to the teeth, so I don't end up like Charlie Kirk, who, in his final months on earth, woke up and started speaking out boldly against Israel. I just hope Thomas has additional security around him. No doubt he can rely on his children, who were photographed armed with high-powered automatic rifles in that Christmas card, to have their dads back.

I don't know how much you know about Thomas Massey, but if the only thing you know about him is that Christmas card, then you know next to nothing about him.

I have no idea what you mean by " His case is more like an Epstein-triggered "horseshoe theory" akin to MTG & Boebert..." Can you explain? As for MTG, she is turning out to be another "profile in courage" just like Thomas Massey.

BREAKING: Border Czar Tom Homan picks a fight with Pope Leo XIV while absurdly claiming to be a Catholic after the church comes out forcefully against his brutal ICE crackdowns.
This hateful ogre is about as Catholic as J.D. Vance is...
“The Catholic Church is wrong,” Homan told reporters. “I’m a lifelong Catholic, but I’m saying it not only as a border czar, but I’m also saying this as a Catholic."
“A secure border saves lives. We’re going to enforce the law and by doing that we save a lot of lives,” he added. “ICE is sending a message to the whole world.”
Homan's ignorant remarks come in the wake of a special message issued by the U.S. Conference of Bishops earlier this week condemning the Trump administration's “indiscriminate” raids. The statement was issued after Pope Leo XIV called on American bishops to be more forceful in their defense of migrants against the MAGA White House.
“We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement,” they stated. “We are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants.”
The bishops lamented the fact that some immigrants "have arbitrarily lost their legal status," that places of worship have been targeted in raids, and that families have been torn apart.
"Catholic teaching exhorts nations to recognize the fundamental dignity of all persons, including immigrants. We bishops advocate for a meaningful reform of our nation's immigration laws and procedures," the wrote.
Homan claiming to be a Catholic while stating that the Catholic Church is wrong about the humane treatment of migrants is the kind of self-righteous faux religiosity that we've come to expect from this soulless administration. One of the defining spiritual traits of Catholics as compared to other Christian denominations is that they defer to the authority of the pope. You do not get to argue with him on moral matters. Homan can choose to be a MAGA fascist or he can choose to be a faithful Catholic. He cannot choose to be both.

It's only a good thing if you think school children being shot weekly is a good thing. Otherwise recent events have shown us that the intended purpose of 2A is nonsense.

If you are going to profess to know a lot about someone, you should at least spell his name correctly.

You're repeatedly spelling his name "Massey" when his name is "Massie". It's not a good look.

And re "horseshoe theory": it's more through being so far in the oft-ridiculed anti-deep-state fringe of the party, they actually come around to common cause with the Dems.

Speaking of MTG & Boebert: this quote from Rebecca Solnit's Facebook page struck me...

===================
"It's striking to me that Boebert and Marjory Taylor Greene have both stood up for the Epstein victims; to me it suggests that they may be among the high percentage of American women who are survivors of sexual abuse (and unprocessed trauma could be part of what makes them so weird; if you're trying to stick with patriarchy after that it'll bend your brain)."

Never thought I would ever hear MtG be described as a "profile in courage".
Absolutely ludicrous.
The woman is absolutely horrible.
I can't remember the specifics but I seem to recall something about MTG, Boebert, and Mace meeting with Epstein victim(s) a while ago and it was enough to turn the three of them into wanting to release the files, and it was enough to make MTG do a full 180 against the administration.

Obviously she's an opportunist but that doesn't mean she's dumb. I wonder what they all know that we don't, especially if it's enough for MTG to try and get ahead of it.

There could be an undercurrent of passing-the-blame, of course--there's an element to the GOP that wants to blame the Clintons, the Dems, "liberalism" etc.

But also consider my previous quoted speculation on how MTG & Boebert might themselves be abuse survivors (and Mace has actually come out as a survivor), and how that might explain their "weirdness"--and indeed, I've wondered for a long, long time now (going back to Toronto's Ford psychodrama) about the net effect of growing up amidst the sex-and-drugs-and-R&R excesses of the 70s-and-onward and how that's perhaps stunted and messed up a whole lot of minds, including those of MAGA. I mean, Trump/Epstein might be seen as the ultimate upshot of an era when underaged groupies and Penthouse Forum were "cool" cultural coordinates; and within that climate, you can definitely picture very young MTG-types subjected to subliminally "normalized" Josh Duggar-type "experimentation". So maybe it's the suppressed-memory thing thrashing its way out here...

Or, they saw evidence of horrific things and changed their tune, without the need for us to psychoanalyze women in the way you're trying to.

This is a new low for Donald Trump
...and there is no such thing as a new low for this man. It more how much is the public and it's representatives willing to tolerate of him. And what legal rights they have when they don't and/or can't.

If you are going to profess to know a lot about someone, you should at least spell his name correctly.
I don't know about this one...outside of a legal setting of coarse. But Megyn is just such an odd way to spell Megan. >.<

Look, even bad people can do some good things. Her pushing to release the Epstein files does not make her a "profile in courage" when her entire career was basically defined by her being his toadie.
