PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

Why do any of you think he ever even needs to THINK about working again after politics?
Not all employment is about money, especially if you’re still young. After being PM, now that he’s lost his popularity and admiration among Canadians and his colleagues, and much of his perceived integrity, lost his wife, his kids are older, he’s got no skills or abilities, he’s got nothing to do.
For now, but if we get stuck with Pierre Poilievre as PM, after a few years the Trudeau name won't be so bad lol.
This. I can see Trudeau coming back in the early 2030s.

Justin Trudeau will be in HIGH demand trust me. He won three elections, and he is one of the most well know leaders in the world. Incumbent leaders are dropping like flies across the world, it would be in Justin Trudeau's interest to resign now to save himself the embarrassment of a historic defeat in the next election.

In regard to Sophie Gregoire, it is not a loss. It is not like she was a Michelle Obama. She is a dime a dozen.

A lot of dimes.. Divorce is almost always a huge financial loss to men, especially rich and powerful men.

Interestingly, in my Gen-X group we're almost all children of divorce and none of us are ourselves divorced. Well, except one cousin whose wife (no longer part of the family group) switched teams to become, what the extended family jokingly calls a vagetarian.

I don't like gossip. She re-partnered with an Ottawa doctor named Marcos Bettolli and has been living with him for a few years. That can/will actually reduce the amount of spousal support that is owned to her.

It will be interesting to see who replaces Trudeau as leader of the LPC. We have not had a non-Quebecer as a Liberal PM since Pearson's single term from 1963-68.

Our most successful non-Quebec Liberal PM has to be Mackenzie King, who was PM in three separate terms: 1921-26, 1926-30, 1935-48. Perhaps Trudeau hopes that Poilievre has the luck of Arthur Meighen or Joe Clark, two other Conservative PMs that quickly flamed out.

My pick is Anita Anand.

If the CPC had a leader like Clark, they would be broadly electable. Poilievre may (and likely will) win the next election as a "not Liberal". He will then need to make some actual policy-based decisions while ruling. He will quickly discover that empty rhetoric and memes are not policy.

Obviously I'm in the never Poilievre camp, so take any of my musings/whinging with that in mind.

I'm not so sure. His dad is still reviled in some quarters four decades on.

Really?

I'm never sure why spouses get dragged into discussions like this. They were married 18 years so I guess she was some form of loss to him when they separated Although we thankfully don't have a 'first lady/first partner' complex, if you want to compare her to Obama, they both have developed their own brand; do the talk circuit, write a book or two, etc.

Have you heard about Sophie Gregoire lately? No one has, even when they were together no one talked about her.

Like him or not Justin Trudeau is one of the most recognizable world leaders currently. Being Prime Minister for 10 years would do that.
