PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

There is a COVID outbreak going around the BQ.

Leslyn Lewis is parachuting herself into a safe CPC riding 100 miles away from Toronto. Not even bothering to contest any of the by-elections.

Bloc Quebecois leader Yves-François Blanchet has tested positive for COVID-19. In a statement, he says he feels fine but will stay in isolation at his home in Shawinigan until Sept. 26...meaning he'll miss the Throne Speech next week.

1949 they gutted the White House and rebuilt it. Congress created a commision that had the powers to rebuild it as they sought fit.
Every new occupant does some minor renos to suit their styles, but it doesn't seem like a political issue.
They just did $3.4 million in renovations without much hassle.
The problem is that the White House isn't a direct comparison as it is the home of the executive branch of government, plus the President's living quarters. 24 Sussex is only the living quarters of the PM. The White House equivalent is more the former Langevin Block (now Office of the Prime Minister and the Privy Council).

Wow, just when it seemed Covid was abating, half the leaders of our parliamentary parties are currently infected.

... and that was a few months after the spouse of the current head of government got COVID-19.

The leaders of the NDP, the Greens, and the People's Party and their respective spouses (if they have one) dodged the COVID-19 bullet during the entire pandemic thus far.

Covid cases around the country have been on the rise for around 2 weeks now. Ontario just recorded over 400 yesterday. We're going to gradually start seeing averages in this range for the upcoming period and likely higher towards the peak of the first wave as well.

The one somewhat reassuring thing is that deaths and hospitalizations haven't risen alongside cases. Seems most new cases are focused on 20-30 demo. Could also be better detection. Of course we should be taking steps to get the reproductive number back below 1 but we aren't on the brink of disaster yet.

An unusual move.

Not typical just to hype a Throne Speech, however grandiose its ambitions may be...............

Hmmm

Apparently:

I'm not unhappy so far...............but I'll I'll wait on details, legislation, a budget and the programs arriving to have any sense of real satisfaction.

We've been on the cusp before.
