People whom you really respect (or who simply kick ass)

Excellent choices!!! Btw, Carlin's last HBO performance (2008) is now available on DVD & Blu ray. Carlin is at his very best here.

I stick closer to home.

I'd add my late local hero, acquaintance and all 'round great guy, George Hislop -

Jane Jacobs -

and Marc Emery -

^Poitier.

The person you admire so much is Sidney Poitier.

Thanks. No need to bold the letter I, I get it. Sidney Poitier played a huge role in the civil rights movement in that he made movies that empowered people of colour, they were watched around the world and truly admired. Even today his movies are poignant.

"To Sir, With Love" (1967) is still one of my all time favorite movies and he's terrific in it. I'm a sucker for that movie, and that song by Lulu.

Britney Spears
Paris Hilton
Madonna

"Money for nothing and the chicks for free"(almost)........... yes these women have caught on to the big fake secret of success and I too salute their gusto even though ones first instinct is to shrug them off. All these women appear to be fairing much better than the wall street giants in that they don't have to hide their wealth and play humble like the wall street boys begging for public bailouts. To achieve wealth and success being oneself is a great achievement and the kick ass part comes when they do something constructive with their wealth.
