Ottawa Transit Developments

I believe Presto cards require a birthday to be set for concession fares.
Yes - but that's for the back office. It doesn't use that data other than to set it to be equal to child, student, adult, etc. It's not available to be used by the devices, nor is it embedded in the card - as far as I know).

Ottawa seems to have kludged this based on eliminating Youth (and Student?) categories. But what happens when you take a GTA card to Ottawa?

Recent improvements in drone tech, and image quality have made life so much better for infrastructure and transit geeks. I love these types of videos.

With recent news of the O-train potentially getting uploaded to the province, I wonder if this would help to speed up the double tracking of the Trillium line?

Ford does love tunnels...

Of course Ford love tunnels to hide the rats that use transit and keep the streets clear for his car folks friends. He thinks people who cannot afford a car or want to use transits are rats that shouldn't be seen and travel underground in cities.

The answer to the question is no. Line 2 is designed to maximize a service disruption measured in years to implement double tracks on rhe busiest portion of the Line North of South Keys. This is so disappointing for someone who lives nearby.

I also wish that a Metrolinx upload would spur the development of a régional transit network to include satellite towns which would also serve rural Ottawa, but I will again bé sadly disappointed. It is weird seeing transit being setup in satellite towns with little or no connection to OCtranspo. The current municipal boundaries and jurisdictions make seamless transit almost impossible.

Which is why he brought parts of the YNSE and OL to the surface, and why Sheppard is being studied with options for elevated segments...

There is still a fair amount of tunneling to bring Sheppard to the surface as well what do you do for CP overpass?? Then where do you start the elevated section??

In other words in the event that it turns out they decide to make it fully underground, you agree its not because Ford came in and said that "transit users are rats that need to stay underground", right?

A couple new virtual tours, this time of Line 1 East. One thing that's new in all the East stations is a windscreen in front of the main entrances. I guess kinda neat for less wind, but maybe somewhat annoying to have to walk around

Am I the only one who thinks four elevators is overkill?
Ottawa's design spec for all stations, ever since the first part of line 1 is there must be redundant elevators that doesn't require a person to travel to another entrance.

Even way out in the boonies at stations like Bowesville there's 4 elevators and it's in the middle of a forest and farm fields.

Maybe because there's way less escalators than say in the TTC, the elevators are popular versus taking the stairs
