IMO, while there was a real argument to imagine something else and that the chevet was an informed fiction by Viollet-le-Duc, the architectural field created a public outlash through its rushed, unabashed opportunism and its ugly and unsympathetic proposals.

That is about a year ago. I'm sure it had toilets in 2019, as well as fire safety systems, although they might want to re-think those.

Outstanding restoration. I remember watching the fire and seeing multiple images of the devastation at the time.

Five years. No end of public agencies could take lessons from that type of project management.

Krásna Hôrka castle in Slovakia was burned by careless teenagers back in March 2012 and it's still not done. Can we get some now out of work French folk to help us along?

Reading the comments made me think we should flag @DSC as UT's chief lobbyist for finishing Union Station's restoration work, maybe he might choose to share this as an example w/the Mayor's Office to inspire......I don't know....
