Hu Jintao dragged out of the closing ceremony of the party conference today. There's speculation as to why but I think it's pretty clearly a show of force, since Li Keqiang and Wang Yang were both snubbed of central committee positions. Essentially a complete neutering of Hu's faction and any remaining power he might have as Xi completely consolidates his own power.

Netanyahu is someone of whom I have never been a 'fan'.
The man is currently on trial for corruption, but somehow still in office.
Its a sign of serious dysfunction.
Its not unique to Israel by any means; but it is perhaps more overt there just at the moment.

This echos some of what's been said here as well as the sentiments of many experts in the field. Despite many internet people's assertions that there is no way China would invade because it is way more difficult than invading Ukraine which has been a spectacular failure, Taiwan is far less prepared than Ukraine was.
They have less operational equipment, no war experience (unlike many Ukrainian soldiers who had years of experience in Donbass) little to no NATO training, and are just in a general state of unpreparedness.
Additionally, the US has virtually no intelligence apparatus in China unlike Russia so there is much less they can do on the intelligence front other than rely on satellite imagery and this article highlights the difficult for the US in assessing a Chinese military buildup for an invasion due to the military's use of civillian vessels.
Then there's also the fact that China's army is significantly more modern and well organized than Russia's and the strength of the Chinese Navy in particular is at the very least competitive with the US in the SCS now, which is a point of serious concern and not something Russia is remotely close to.
