Fantastic tour. It amazes me how unceremoniously the canal comes to an end, given its historic and cultural significance.

Yep, LeBreton development has finally started. The plans don't look bad from what I've seen. It sure will be a change for the area..

By the way, I've always had a soft spot for NDHQ.

Ottawa-Canada's capital-great pics!

Flar: This is a nice group of pics of the Ottawa/Hull region.
There are too many good pics to mention but I will post some comments soon.

Thanks LI Mike, I will try to answer your questions.

2-Canada's Parliament/Peace Tower-Ottawa's most famous buildings?

Definitely

7-Government building-what is it?
That's the Langevin Block, where the office of the PM is located. Basically the executive branch of the government is there.

14-Is this Hull,Quebec?

Yes, I'm not sure what the white buildings is though.

15-Nice Fall country air view...where?
The view is from one of the lookouts at Gatineau Park in Quebec

16-I remember Ottawa had a Downtown pedestrian mall on which street?
Sparks Street

19-Hull Buildings-Government?
Of course it's the government ;) The complex is called Les Terasses de la Chaudiere

21-Interesting OC Transpo ad with a little humor for good measure...
Enouraging people to rat out their fellow citizens lol

25-Hull Skyline?
Yep, showing mostly the Place du Portage complex

26-Down on the Ottawa River?
Looking east towards Ottawa from the ferry

27-Ferry-where?
About 45 minutes west of Ottawa across from the Quebec town of Quyon

35,36-Downtown Ottawa-where?
West part of downtown, looking east down Lauier and Queen Streets respectively

44-Neat visitors center-where?
Directly across Wellington St from the Parliament buildings.

45-Lion sleeping on the job?
Nobody gives the post office any respect these days...

47-Slow down-where was this?
Sandy Hill, I think . I see these all over where kids are playing street hockey.

48-Canal?
Yes, as it enters/exits the Ottawa River.

51-Neat color in this air view-where?
From a lookout in Gatineau Park, looking SW to the Ottawa River

52-What is this building?
Gatineau City Hall

55-Interesting air view... 59-Hills-where?
Those are the Gatineau Hills north of Hull. View is from 24th floor of Portage I

65-Hull construction...
Ottawa actually. There is a huge empty area west of downtown known as LeBreton Flats.

68-Rideau Canal?
Right at the entrance between Chateau Laurier and Parliament Hill.

70-A perfect finish-no jumping the shark here! (Quebec side?)
Yes, driving along the river on the Quebec side west of the city.
