Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

That is Union Station in the middle. I would have to guess that is either Metropolitan United or St James Cathedral in the background.

I would say this was done from the foot of Brock Street (Spadina Avenue)
I think 17 is St James Cathedral, 18 is St Lawrence Hall and 19 is the South Market (then the City Hall) and 20 is the (Grand Trunk?) rail station that was on The Esplanade @ Yonge

I've got the full picture in one of those old Mike Filey Then and Now books. It's by Gaston Gascard and a good digital reproduction can be found here: https://maps.library.utoronto.ca/da...ricTOmaps/1876GascardBEVfromNRailElevator.jpg
Thank you VERY much! There is a (not quite as good) reproduction in Nathan Ng's great compilation of Toronto maps. Nathan explains more about it and has the key to the numbering. http://oldtorontomaps.blogspot.com/2013/01/1876-gascard-city-of-toronto-birds-eye.html

Front and Jarvis, again. Interesting to be reminded that some of the "Corner Place" and "Jason George" block is actually a reproduction!

Here's another picture (fromTPL), showing the old weigh-house that used to be in the middle of Front Street just east of Jarvid

Thanks for that correction, adma.
I had no idea the building had been moved.
I wonder if there are any photos of the move.
