That is Union Station in the middle. I would have to guess that is either Metropolitan United or St James Cathedral in the background.

I would say this was done from the foot of Brock Street (Spadina Avenue)

I think 17 is St James Cathedral, 18 is St Lawrence Hall and 19 is the South Market (then the City Hall) and 20 is the (Grand Trunk?) rail station that was on The Esplanade @ Yonge

Sorry, I was unclear. I am interested in know which book the plate is from, what I copied is clearly only part of a larger Plan.

Front and Jarvis, again. Interesting to be reminded that some of the "Corner Place" and "Jason George" block is actually a reproduction!

This 1866 photo from Archives of Ontario is of the Betz Hotel at The Esplanade and Simcoe. (The Esplanade originally also continued west of Yonge.)

The Toronto Board of Education Administration Building (built 1917) was located at 263 McCaul St., an obvious city thoroughfare.
Today, the building is on a laneway (same address) and part of the U. of T. complex.
An unusual situation, to be sure.

Actually, it used to front on College, but was moved back when they built the new HQ in '59 (and I'm not sure whether they raised the building, or lowered the frontage for the service ramp)

I had no idea the building had been moved.
I wonder if there are any photos of the move.
