I just got back from the Home Show, and I have to say I am seriously disappointed. You think our mainstream condos are bland? You should see the schlock available as home furnishings.

Don't get me wrong, Toronto has awesome designers and home stores, for example along King Street East. None of that fantastic stuff is at the convention centre this weekend. Maybe 1 in 50 of the exhibitors is even mildly artistic.

Truth is, I think 'the masses' just have no taste, so garbage-demanded, garbage-supplied. Of all the subcategories, it's obvious the big money is in kitchens. However, there are many neo-hearth like ovens which I think is just as silly as neo-victorian architecture.

I'm guessing all the furniture looked like it came from the Brick right? Why is it that so many people think they have to buy furniture from these big suburban chains?!? It all looks the same. Blah...
