Mississauga and Ottawa are the two favourites to win the Eastern Conference next year.

That's fine as long as next year's OHL playoffs parallel this year's NHL Western Conference playoffs and not the East.

Ottawa favoured next year? Now I'm depressed.

That's fine as long as next year's OHL playoffs parallel this year's NHL Western Conference playoffs and not the East.

What happened is the east is far less likely to happen in the OHL. Only 2/24 1 vs. 8 series and 4/24 2 vs. 7 series have been upsets since the OHL went to four divisions and two conferences. I'm pretty sure it's never happened in both series in the same year, either.

With 8 of 10 in each conference making the playoffs in the OHL, versus 8 of 15 in the NHL, the gap between 1 and 8 is much bigger.
