Someone recently told me that Buffalo's downtown is bigger than TO's but I find it hard to believe. I have never been to Buffalo and I think the guy has a bias against TO.
I suppose it would depend on your definition of "downtown" or "bigger". It could also depend on your definition of "Buffalo" or "Toronto". Actually come to think of it, the answer is "no" no matter how hard you would stretch the definition of any word in that sentence.
It amazes me at how different the heritage architecture of Buffalo is from that of Toronto. American cities definately are different, not as much red brick Victoriana and Edwardian etc. We tend to forget how unique and lovely our older stock of buildings is.
Buffalo does have some real gems in its downtown architecture...mostly art deco stuff...you can see that at one time Buffalo was a player, it's too bad that something went wrong there...
Everyone: I believe that Toronto has a larger DT area than Buffalo. Buffalo has some classic buildings-one being the City Hall on Niagara Square in Downtown Buffalo.
There are also classic buildings like the main M&T Bank branch-formerly the Buffalo Savings Bank.
Both cities enjoy classic old architecture-as well as some newer buildings of note. LI MIKE
