Everyone: In Today's Philadelphia Daily News there is an article concerning Canadian tourists visiting the NJ Shore and how Shore communities in Cape May County are dependent on Quebec tourists to make ends meet during the current recession.

The Philadelphia Daily News front page headline today 6/6 reads: DOWNASHORE,EH? WITH ECONOMY IN THE TOILET,CAPE MAY CO. TOURISM INDUSTRY COUNTING ON CANADIANS TO PICK ANOTHER NJ BEACH VACATION with a picture of the Quebec Motel in Wildwood,NJ on the cover.

Do NJ or for that matter Long Island beaches attract substantial numbers of summer tourists from Ontario in any way? Are there any other resorts on the East Coast of the US that attract substantial Canadian visitors?

Will the new border rules and regulations affect Canadians vacationing in the US this Summer? Mentioned in the article is a quote "Starting this week anyone traveling in and out of the United States by car is required to have a passport" - That proves a point I posted elsewhere concerning the new US-Canada border rules MIS-INFORMATION!

I thought the entire population of non-Montreal Quebec went to Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood as soon as their above-ground backyard pools were drained for the year...

The South Jersey shore would be an unusual vacation spot for me. I only know it as the hideaway of Dr. Weird on Aquateen Hunger Force.

I spent a few days on the Jersey shore a few years back. But for most Canadians its Myrtle Beach and points south that are the bigger attractions. Many Canadians head south during the winter (spring break for example) and New Jersey is just too cold at that time for the beach.
