Please, please, PLEASE someone photoshop Harry Stinson's face on to that shot of Marlon Brando. I swear to you I would be forever grateful to you.
I actually think there is some merit to this idea. I don't quite understand the violent, profanity-laced reactions to this article. Perhaps someone could explain that whole thing to me.
I know that Harry says a lot of negative things about the city, but I think he does it because he actually cares. I don't necessarily agree with everything he says, but remember there's a saying that says that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. He is certainly not indifferent.
I think people are just too sensitive about the way we do things around here, myself included at times. I sort of think we believe it's good just because it's the way we do it. I don't think we as a city and as a culture are anywhere near as open-minded as we tell each other we are.
It strikes me that to dismiss this design competition idea as complete nonsense is a mistake. I know they aren't the same, but look at what happened in Mississauga with one building. It really captivated people both there and in Toronto. Imagine a competition this big. The city could possibly get more worldwide attention than it's ever had for anything.
