Lakeshore West (PDF schedule)

Midday and evening weekday service extended from Burlington to Aldershot. But not all trains go to Aldershot, and there are some weird gaps (ie no eastbound train service between 7:19 and 10:08, but a bus connection, and again between 15:54 and 20:08). Same going westbound. More buses going from Aldershot to McMaster.

Milton

Lisgar Station opens. No major service changes.

University of Guelph

University of Guelph Routes:
Main one is U of G - 401/Highway 6 park and ride (Aberfoyle) - Square One - Cooksville. (PDF Sched)

Secondary one is U of G - Aberfoyle - Meadowvale - Bramalea - York U.

Otherwise, not much new. A few extra trips on the 407 services. I was waiting (in vain?) for GO to finally beef up its neglected Georgetown "Train-Bus" service (it was even promised in the GO accessibility plan!) but nope.

Of all the Sept. service changes, Brampton's the best of the bunch. Kind of sad.

So the Meadowvale 407 bus route has now been extended but still doesn't serve Meadowvale Town Centre??? Serving Meadowvale Town Centre would not add any time to the route at all, maybe a few seconds, what is GO thinking...

It is like they are deliberately trying to discourage people from using local transit, or trying to discourage the people who use tend to use local transit (i.e. non-whites) from being able to use GO. That is probably Hazel's influence on GO right there.

What is this raciest bull shit? It has no place here and should be remove.

Both GO and Hazel discourage all race from using local transit in the first place and put car folks at the front front of the line.

The new GO parking lot at Sq One is a good example of not supporting local transit as well the 403 BRT parking lots.

As for the few seconds to leave the 407 to Meadowvale Town Centre and back to the 407 is like 10 minutes at the best of time.

Grow up

"Adding service" isn't always what its cracked up to be. Many people want GO to add bus service to Kipling, which I think is a terrible idea. It's bad enough when Milton buses have to stop at Dixie to pick up between zero and one people, having to stop at Kipling would ADD to the trip time without improving the service at all. In my opinion, Dixie GO doesn't warrant ANY bus service whatsoever, and the bus service should never be extended to Kipling. But of course it will, otherwise what would be the point of the whole Kipling Regional Bus Terminal? But whatever. Rant over.

If GO wants to add service to Kipling, it should be part of a separate route from the Train-Bus Milton Route.

I can't see too much demand for a GO route to Kipling at Mississauga's end, as they already have MT service there, especially in the Dixie, Cooksville and Erindale station areas. The only GO service I can see working are limited service routes to Brampton, Meadowvale/Milton, Oakville (via Sheridan College), maybe Hamilton/McMaster or maybe Bolton. GO already routes most buses in Brampton/Bolton/etc to Yorkdale/York Mills (instead of Union, where more should go, beating a dead horse of mine).

Typically, GO "adds service" by adding more parking lots. GO figure.

You calling me racist? Hazel is the one who has publicly denounced multiculturalism and made polices to exclude immigrants from politics in Mississauga, not me.

As for GO, maybe racism is the reason why they refuse to add bus service to Brampton, which has a lot of blacks and South Asians.

As for the few seconds to leave the 407 to Meadowvale Town Centre and back to the 407 is like 10 minutes at the best of time.

Er... no, the buses don't use the 407 to get to Guelph. If you look at a map, you will see that it is the 401 that goes to Guelph.

And when the buses get off the 401, whether the buses use Derry or Aquitaine makes no difference at all, so how could it be 10 minutes?

Learn proper English.

Doady, I seem to recall that this is not the first time that you have made comments accusing Hazel McCallion of racism. These comments are inappropriate, especially as you do not back them with evidence. I am well aware that she attends a large number of community events including all kinds of multicultural parades, special days at temples and gurdwaras, etc.

I also doubt that Hazel McCallion influences GO Transit to the extent of determining a day-to-day operational issue such as whether buses enter Meadowvale Town Centre. These decisions are made for whatever reasons by GO managers, and if you want to influence them, you can certainly write a letter, addressed to GO, not Hazel.

No I do not think she is racist. I just thought some people here might like that for a moment...

I am serious about what i said about GO Transit though. What they are doing is clearly discrimination: discrimination against immigrants, against people of colour, against poor people, and against women, and I am seriously considering writing them letter as you suggest.

oh dear god - enough with the "you're a racist, no I'm not"

The reason the Aldershot trains are intermittent at present is that at the moment GO doesn't have enough trains to extend all services. The ones being extended used to have long layovers in Burlington and now that dead time is being used to run on the new third track to Aldershot and back.

GO schedule changes...

ST: I feel Hamilton should get more GO rail service-just like serving Oshawa to the E. Has there been any talk about GO rail service to Niagara Falls?

yes there has, but I'm not sure that's a good idea in the short term since it just expands the sprawl area. I would build that last, after the new midtown terminal, GO Bolton, GO North Pickering etc.

Additional train service into downtown Hamilton is constrained by the lack of track capacity, and the fact that the railways who own the track (CN and CP) like to give a higher priority to freight trains.

Niagara Falls is outside what most people would consider a normal commute from Toronto, although I recognize that people could commute from there to closer places like Burlington. GO Train commuter service to Niagara Falls is unlikely, IMO, as trains would have to make a lengthy run through Hamilton and circle around the west end of Hamilton Harbour, then through Aldershot and Burlington. If any GO service ever extends to Niagara Falls or places on the Niagara Peninsula, I would think it is more likely that buses would be used, which would run across the Skyway and link to trains at Burlington.

Or they could build tracks along side the mid-pennisula expressway ;). Put in a stop at Hamilton Airport, build a bunch more casinos in NF and pretty soon we'd be Vegas North! Or, at least, Atlantic City North...

So Lisgar is opening, rushed. So rushed, to get there, you can park, but can't ride a bus.

GO Transit has advised that they moved up the scheduled opening from October as a window of opportunity recently opened up to enable the trains to stop at Lisgar and they could not miss it.

The parking lot is being paved this Thursday and the City traffic signals are expected to be installed within the next 2 weeks.

Mississauga Transit and GO buses will NOT be running in and out of the station until mid to late October so users will have to drive and park in one of the 900 parking spaces.

The rushed Lisgar station, taken yesterday.

The surroundings: a power centre (anchored by Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Rona), low rise residential (but farther), a hydro field. Though if a GO station was to be a park-and-ride, it's a good spot, so close to the 401, lots of otherwise useless space under the hydro wires.
