It was clear as day that electrification was never going to happen as soon as some folks believed it would.
Metrolinx put out a gaslighting social media post that featured a 2 second clip if an individual drawing up a rendering of an electric GO locomotive and some folks took it as a sign that electrification was right around the corner.
If anyone is that easily duped then they deserve to be disappointed by this most obvious revelation.

we have the public support, but as for leadership.... fail. considering they cant do simple stuff such as repainting their cars and locos within 5 years let alone 15 years after a complete night and day brand change just shows how inept ML is in doing these capital infrastructure projects.,
however, considering the early momentum on them completing early enabling works such as station upgrades and new stops, one can can be excused to have hope that this would be all part of a concerted effort to fast track.

this just makes us look the more shameful. India, who we ridicule, mock and meme, electrified 40000KM of rail in the exact same time we were still just TALKING and conducting studies.
even at 1/4 of their output thats still 10000km. that means that if they did our network it wouldve only taken them 1 year to complete every single track within the GO network.
Once again its all about ambition vs C-suite tards sitting on their asses and collecting their paycheck. .

Have you got a date when your time will end?? None of us have a date when we will cease to exist as death happen at anytime regardless of age. It can be by natural cause, accident, kill by x, heart attack, disease and so on.
Anyone over 65 today will be hard press to see things in 15 years.

The thing to remember about these far off deadlines is that Metrolinx is a government agency.
Everything can change if a new Premier/ political party wins the next election.

Didn't say anything about myself or any one particular individual, now did I?
The point is that unless the average age of the forum membership is over 60, most of the forum is not likely to be dead in 15 years. that doesn't mean that any one particular individual couldn't be. That's not the point of dthe discussion.

You made a statement and I responded to it.
Age makes no different when one time is up with some of us could be gone tonight for a wide range of things. You cannot say that X % of the board will be around in 15 years when members come and go for various reasons
ML and TTC are great at stating long time frames when X will be in place. TTC stated the first phase QQE would be in service by 2014 in 2010. Its now 2031-35+. ML stated at a public BOD that the UPX would be electrification
by 2019 and its now 2035+
I said during the 2006 bill hearing and written submission that ML would become a disaster unless held at arm length from MTO, the government and municipalities and that is the case today. Its another layer for MTO that could be done away with.
Far too many fingers in the planning and executing it that have cost us by not seeing them on time, over budget, poor planning and etc. I have lost all hope we will see X in our life time.

The delay to the UPX blows my mind the most. It's the shortest stretch of track, with the most defective trains, and doesn't have the apparent issue of the union train shed. I suppose wherever maintenance takes place could present a problem, but it seems like the easiest project for electrification.
