Where is the second track?
It will be to the left of the current one once the new platform is built for it. It will be in the same location where it was before the expansion. Don't expect to see the 2nd track in place until 2022

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask this, but whatever happened to the West Harbour third platform, Confederation GO, and Grimsby GO projects?
Great Question... I have nothing.

Confederation was supposed to be done in 2021, well uh, nothing even remotely resembling shovels hitting the earth has happened yet...

I have seen nothing related West Harbour third platform, Confederation GO 6 months ago other than doing track grading east of the bridge for Confederation a year ago.

Most likely delay due to COVID-19 and lack of ridership or flying under the radar these days. Since there is no NF trains these days, no need for a station to sit unused at wasted cost.

Hmmm, this tender went out in January:

I don't see where it was awarded; though I assume it would have been by now.

^I have a suspicion that the West Harbour work will be managed by CN, so may not turn up in the ML bid process.

But, as noted, Covid may have dropped the priority somewhat.

Speaking of the City and Mx...............yet another motion at this meeting seeks to give Mx a hardtime; this one from Councillor Fletcher, seeking to bump up the Don Valley Storage Facility to a Federal EA.

Clearly not a City decision, it would be a City request to the Feds.

I doubt very much that this would qualify for federal intervention..................

I don't know why they don't use the Leaside yard. Bring the existing track out of disrepair, shift CP tracks to the north on the rail corridor, and put in the tracks for a yard. Use the old station for crew. You probably wouldn't even need an EA because it is using what was already approved long ago and what is still there but needing repair.

^Leaside is a far better location for a layover yard.

I doubt that a federal EA will make any difference to that.... an EA doesn’t ask if an idea makes sense, all any EA can do is identify impacts and outline mitigation needed.

Finally got around to look at the Lawrence Ave Area.

You will be lucky to get an GO Platform in on the eastside of the Stouffville Line at Lawrence now. Only after the SRT is remove will you be able to put in a fully station there, then, you need a car to use the station and not much room for a parking lot

Notice the single mast is on the west side of track 2 and the northbound train turn it to red as it pass it.

I am assuming that the 2 large tube columns are the base of a block signal mast or bridge that are south of the platforms in sight of the the train crew. They are in the walkway area

Finally got to tour the new Steeles underpass and do an update on Millikin Station.

As usual, cycles and pedestrians have to bear the brunt of being inconvenience in the name traffic coming first and this project is no exception. To go east on Steeles, one had to get off the Kennedy bus south of the bus stop as that whole block is seeing sidewalk and lane curb built to the point you must cross Kennedy to get to the west side to cross Steeles and then go east on the north side of Steeles a block. You then cross Steeles on the east side of the street to get to the unfinish south side to continue east. The cycling lane is not really open in places and plywood over the holes where trees will be planted at some point.

Going to miss getting photos and videos of fools who cross the tracks as the trains are arriving or departing the station with crossing gates down and flashing lights.

Still a lot of work to still be done on the south side and haft of the west retaining wall is in place on the north side.

Suppose to be 2 lanes going east and one west, but one of the eastbound lane close due to crews working in the road manhole. No real sidewalk or curb at the east end of the underpass.

Crews working on the west side tunnel and stair/elevator that has yet to see wall forming. Good area to get to the east side stair/elevator.

Still have a fair amount of roadwork and soon to be built retaining wall on the east side for the westbound lanes and sidewalk.

Very little has change for the station other than more roofing over the platform and the new west side stair/elevator area nearing the surface. Still nothing done for the east elevator going on 2 years. No work on the west new platform.

Summer of 2022 can't come fast for the completion of this project

Lot more photos up on site.
