GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

this seems like a prime candidate for the PC's new development-funded stations plan - that is a prime TTC parking lot sitting there that could easily have a condo on it - and this area has a fairly strong condo market to support it as well.

No where is there an underground connection from Leslie Subway Station nor Oriole GO Station to the North York General Hospital.

Unlike Hospital Row ( from http://urbantoronto.ca/news/2011/11/mars-phase-ii-integrating-queens-park-station )

(Note the "restricted walkway" to the Legislative Building, which Doug Ford does not use. Would rather drive himself, by himself, to the reserved parking spot.)

(The editing row is still dimmed and unusable for me.)

The Leslie Subway Station is located south of Sheppard Avenue East at Old Leslie Street, not Leslie Street itself.
There are multiple entrances to Leslie Station. One is at the southwest corner of Leslie and Sheppard.

That's a lot closer to Leslie is than (for example) the Greenwood station is to Greenwood. That entrance is literally on Leslie. Not surprisingly, not all entrances to a station, are from the street that it crosses.

When the Oriole GO Station was built, most likely it was located to funnel motorists off the 401, not public transit users. At least with this shift in the GO Station, it will correct that mistake.

Nah, more like it will throw cars back on the roads and worsen congestion because current Oriole users will have nowhere to park; and overwhelm the Old Cummer lot. How many people transfer between the TTC and GO at Oriole? It's gotta be in the low double digits. I doubt even full fare integration would help much. Thankfully, they're looking to expand parking at Old Cummer to make up for lost parking at Oriole.

Its a real shame that there is no future possibility of future 2 way service with this station design........:(
There is a second track shown in one of the renders. The schematics also show reserved space for a second side-platform. The tunnel connecting from the TTC will/can have stairs leading up to both platforms.
I think they are space constrained by the two bridges. Since the platform stretches the whole block, the tracks will have to diverge before the bridges.

This is a better schematic, with a satellite view with property lines. The current track is on the west side of the bridge over Sheppard. They will shift it to the east side, and the platform will be built as a new structure. That leaves room on the existing bridge for a second track, and there's plenty of space in the right-of-way for a second platform, probably extended on a new structure over Sheppard in the same way.

So they’ll have to remove the existing track and move it over to the east side on the Sheppard overpass right?

Looking at the section, it looks like theyre still intending to have a low platform height that isnt flush with even the bi level doors (assuming that the railing is for the wheelchair ramp section). Is there a reason for this? Have they not learned
that level boarding saves a lot of time?

The level boarding strategy, whenever it arrives, will have to be rolled out a route at a time. Can’t have a hodgepodge of los and high - the cars’ door sills have to be modified. Once modified, they may not be compatible with the old (low) platform height.

There's room on the bridges for two tracks but a GO Train is longer than the space between Sheppard and Esther Shiner. Unless they're widening one or the other bridge for platforms, or the platforms are entirely north of Sheppard, there's an issue supporting double track.

Just do what they did at Major Mackenzie and widen the bridge for the platform only.

I'll try again to explain: the existing bridge structure will be for the tracks. The east platform will be a new structure over Sheppard, as per the schematic I posted, and I'd expect a future west platform to be the same.

Roughing in paint. Red = existing track, green = realigned east track, blue = future west track, purple = new platform structures.
