All the new bridges are in place for all 3 tracks at Long Branch over Etobicoke Creek. They have struct bracing at each ends.

This will make some folks happy, there are rebar coming out of the centre pier most likely to extended it north to support the new future track 1 bridge,

From what I could see, post were added to support the double track deck truss bridge that was removed to support the four all four girders box, They look the same as track 3 bridge as they are the same depth.

As to the comment of only having side platforms with two express tracks, i had a better look at the south side today with all the greenery missing. There is some room for a side platform, but will require rooming a few 100 or so trees in the ROW as well the backyards of homes backing onto the corridor. At the same time, those homes will loose some of their backyard to build a retaining wall for a wider platform that will be backfill once the wall is built.

Bit confused what you mean here, I thought a supposed 4th track would be on the north side, not south side. The side platform comment was just to swap the south config from currently PTTPT to PTTTP, which i dont think should be any wider? If anything, I feel side platforms should be thinner because you dont need setbacks on both sides of the platform.

Its not the first time ML has built haft a platform than have the other haft sit empty over a decade or more when they have no idea when a new track will be in place for it. Have said that, one only has to look at Cooksville platform that was rebuilt as a centre platform some 5 years ago and will remain that way for many years until ML and CPKC can work out a deal to have 3-4 track for the Milton Line.. Can't recall off hand, but the Lisgar GO station built in 2007 is to be a centre platform that maybe a haft platform at this time or was built as full platform since they were building various section as three track corridor.at the time. There was also to be a side platform at the station side. That is 18 years ago.

Unless you want to rip up all the work for the new platforms for Long Branch as a PTTP at great cost, ML is most likely not willing to do it with egg on their face.

You still need space for a south platform as I noted above as there is no room to have another track south of track 3.

The GO Transit website lists two additional weekend closures on LSW in January, presumably for continued work on the Etobicoke bridge (and whatever else work they can get done in the depths of winter).

The LSE and Stouffville line closures are coordinated, which suggest it’s being driven by LSE projects (East Harbour, 4th track installation between Pape and Danforth GO, Birchmount Bridge etc.)

In 2025H1, there were ~6 weekend closures to bring new track into service between Kennedy and Agincourt, so this preliminary list doesn’t suggest any material items on the ST line “to do list” being completed (West Highland Creek, Kennedy station second platform, Stouffville and Mount Joy station upgrades).

The LSW sections of track being closed suggest projects being done in different locations such as the Etobicoke Cree bridge, Burloak grade separation and work being done between Aldershot and Niagara Falls.

Barrie and Kitchener lines have a host of closures as well, which is nice to see. These lines are taking advantage of the 3-day Victoria Day weekend for construction work.

It's encouraging to see so much happening in the spring. Here's hoping that ML and its contractors get off to a fast and productive start as soon as the ground thaws.

The Kitchener and Barrie line work has overlaps also, which hints at track work between Parkdale and Strachan. For that matter, a lot of the Barrie work appears to be happening south of Downsview Park.

I am hoping they’re aiming to knock some of the low hanging fruit off their path dependencies. With respect to improving accountability, it would be nice to see KPIs being measured against these “missions” at each board meeting.

I’ve only been following the RFP “wish list” for a short time, but I’ve seen the same projects with a forecasted RFP date be pushed every quarter for 3+ years.

I always thought that using the the GM spur bridge was the much cheaper option and building a new bridge over the 401 was very expensive.
The removal of a good chunk of the parking lot at the Oshawa Station during construction would not go over very well with the current users of the station.

I think the current plan is to build a bridge beside the existing CPKC bridge and so it wouldn't be used. So I guess the cost savings compared to the diagonal bridge is the footings being parallel to the existing ones over the 401. I'm probably not describing it well but I think you get the idea. I'm also not a civil engineer.
