Gehry in downtown LA

^ Moreover, LA couldn't develop a traditional downtown with skyscrapers like Toronto because of earthquakes. This forced development in "edge cities" in the Los Angeles Basin. As technology improved to allow earthquake-resistant skyscrapers, there was renewed interest in developing a downtown comparable to other big cities.
 
Aww...they didn't include the LADWP building in the model. The "mall" between City Hall and the water and power building seems to be on a scale equal to that of most state capitols.
