The filmmaker Harry Sutherland wanted to make a film about openly gay candidate George Hislop's 1980 campaign for a seat on city council. When Hislop lost, the production stalled. When the bathhouse raids happened the following February, he decided you use the event and the protests that followed as the hook for his film. Track Two contains the best footage i've seen of the Toronto gay scene that was based around Yonge st, circa 1980...

"In 1980, Hislop ran for Toronto City Council. He won the support of then-Mayor John Sewell, a move that contributed to Sewell's defeat. The Toronto police association openly campaigned against both Sewell and Hislop in the election."
