Gas prices

Are fuel prices in Canada going up? Here in GB since the invasion of Iraq petrol, sorry gas has gone up till it is at a massive 9 dollars a gallon. Ok it is an imperial gallon not metric. I think that is 4.5 litres to 3.8 litres. Domestic electric and gas prices have risen steadily and new big rises have been announced. Averaging around 25% for both commodities. There is no doubt that the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan have created the instability in oil prices. However it is easy to be cynical and think how much our goverment is profiting from the war. Millions if not billions in increasing tax revenue from the oil price rises.

What's the price per litre?

I noticed when I was in the UK a few years ago that the price of petrol looked about the same as in Canada , around 80 p/litre or 80 cents/litre (though at the time, one pound = 2.2 Canadian dollars).

Currently, the price is between $1.03-1.06 in Toronto.

by 2012 or 2010?, oil will be $150 a barrel and our gas should cost $1.50 a liter.

SeanTrans, I noticed the same thing when I was in the UK last summer. After all the conversions and such, the price for fuel over there was roughly double... as was most everything else from fast food meals to houses.

I did find a few breaks on food items such as milk and cheese. I was able to find a small carton of milk for 39p and a some decent blocks of cheese that were going 2 for L2.50

If you're planning on hauling back some cheap gas, you might want to reconsider. Airport security might take issue with that.

Someone has to pay for all those bombs.

News Report: The U.S. military says the massive airstrike it launched on Thursday was a success.....
....Military officials say U.S. bombers and fighter jets dropped a total of 48 bombs on 47 targets used by insurgents to store weapons. The airstrike was one of the largest in the war.

Speaking of which, didn't Steve Harper promise to eliminate GST on gas prices if they exceeded .80/litre? Another promise forgotten?

Currently around £1 per litre depending on where you go for it. The cheapest is 99.9p and I have seen it at £1.09. We have been told to expect further price rises. Looking at the prices you quote you are paying about half of the price we pay.
