Eg West is on Metrolinx' radar for future lines. It appears in their presentations unlike another proposed TC lines.
Finch West is on Metrolinx's radar too, and look what has happened to it: Incessant delays.

Don't worry, Metrolinx will hold the city accountable for agreeing to pay for it in a signed agreement so they don't waste the extra LRVs and make themselves look like fools.Isn't that supposed to be funded by the City as part of that Scam.. er Smarttrack scheme? Don't see any sign of the money coming anytime soon.
finch west is under construction right now. Not sure what you are talking about.Finch West is on Metrolinx's radar too, and look what has happened to it: Incessant delays.
I'm sceptical of even one of those lines getting built.
I'm going to say this again. There is zero potential development along Airport Rd. Beside an airport is not the place people want to live and they can't build office towers beside the runway. Getting Mississauga to pay for operations with that section is going to get the entire city angry. The better place for a GO train connection would be at Woodbine itself, especially they'll be getting a casino.Hey, back again with another new map. I updated my map of the Finch West LRT as one comprehensive map. Again, I hope it looks official.

By the way, nice map. Well done.
I like to think connecting Dixon to the Casino would be a better idea. It would bring hotels within a easy 5-10 min ride within hotels. The Dixon and Hwy 27 both can be developed into a grand boulevard. The interchange at Dixon/27 would eventually be dismantled similar to the 6 point intersection. I don't see why Toronto would keep it. It will open up to tons of land for development. Both streets have a large ROW can can be repurposed for bike lanes, taxi stops and etc. The LRT can just run in the middle. Malton isn't the best area for development either. I'm not sure how much demand there would be for an LRT heading onto Finch West.Yeah, there is practical no development potential on Airport Road, but the Rexdale alignment I think would be more preferable than going south on Highway 27 and turn west on Dixon. Atleast with the Rexdale and Airport route, the LRT can connect to the residential community of Malton whereas there is no residential area if the LRT was on Highway 27 and Dixon.
And Thanks
Beautiful map. Didn't cost a thing. Metrolinx could use it.Hey, back again with another new map. I updated my map of the Finch West LRT as one comprehensive map. Again, I hope it looks official.
I understand this comment, but the probability that I - as a person coming from the south - would go to Finch to get to YYZ is nil. It's such a 'garbage' alignment, that it won't cost much to build. The lin s have different origins and different audiences. The Renforth/Silver Dart alignment has zero development potential and is even worst than Airport Rd. It's basically 3+ km of garbage track to connect to Terminal 1.
I never said go to Finch. I said both lines can meet up at Dixon and enter the airport from Dixon. It's roughly the same amount of time via Renforth too. Riders from Renforth can take a Miway bus into the airport or east to Martin Grove to take the other spur. They aren't building any stops in between Renforth and Martin Grove either so no one would be inconvenienced. The issue that Miway riders would have to transfer to the LRT wouldn't exist.I understand this comment, but the probability that I - as a person coming from the south - would go to Finch to get to YYZ is nil. If Finch LRT is expected to take Torontonians to the airport, then it needs to short-cut from Woodbine to the terminals. At the very least, it should go via Hwy 27 and Dixon, and don't make too many stops.
A detour via Malton would make the trip to Pearson too long ..
The demand for downtown would be much higher than Finch. There's a lot of people who would park at the airport or Weston to attend a Jays game or special events at the ACC/Skydome.I think the UPX is eventually going to fail, or at least get pushed out by increasing GO train service and VIA or Maybe High Speed Rail, so I would run the Finch LRT along the UPX spur to the Airport where it could also act as a shuttle between there and the Railway corridor.
