Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

It was such a shortsighted and regrettable loss. The Registry Building could have been reused as a building to make Nathan Phillips Square more vibrant. For instance, it could have been reused as an art gallery, market building, hotel, public library, or a combination of a bar, restaurant and office space. The square would be more attractive and vibrant if the building had been reused.

For all the people who said that something so modern as City Hall couldn't stand next to a building of its vintage, it's ironic that Viljo Revell added a touch of the classical to City Hall's podium in the seemingly classicly-inspired row of columns and loggia at the base of the podium.

If you care the 2019 elfast parade is at
Even in Belfast the parades are smaller than they once were - in the 1950s they used to take over 3 hours to pass going to The Field and longer when they returned - primarily due to the 'refreshments' consumed there!
What's in the coffin they're carrying? The corpse of bigotry? I've seen video of the Orange Day "parade" in Toronto. It takes up ONE side of Queen Street and runs about ten minutes. We've come a long way from the days when you had to be in the Lodge to be Mayor of Toronto or Premier of Ontario. Meanwhile, St. Paddy's Day Parade just gets bigger and bigger, funner and funner, and more and more inclusive. "Our revenge will be the laughter of our children." -Bobby Sands
