Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

I thought this one is "evocative". A Toronto Archive pic. Great composition. Technically very nice too.

"Policeman escorting children across street. August 13, 1924".

I wonder where the location?

I love the sailor suit on the little boy and the mannequin in the doorway.

Is that a phone number on the dry goods store....GE (something) 5019 (or 3019)?

There appears to be a three-digit address on the left-hand store--looks like 388 or 588; and there's part of a number on the right-hand store, partially obscured.

"I wonder where the location?" QUOTE Mustapha.

All torn down for Gerrard Square Mall. :(

Mustapha, you beat me to it. I was just touring with Google Street View. There are still a few contemporary houses left across the street, however, where these kids might have presumably been headed.

Hey FAC33, "touring" with Street View: I find it useful to check out the neighbourhood around a hotel in a strange city before I make a booking; places to eat, shop, etc. :)

Here's an item from today's Globe & Mail (Jan/15/11) - attached thumbnail.

Looks as though it could be an interesting exhibit.
