It sure looks like they had fun in those days. My mother was born on the Toronto Islands and my grandfather was a captain of the fire department. There were lots of stories about growing up around downtown Toronto - the Palais Royal, Sunnyside, Cherry Beach, and of course, the Islands.
James Matthews could have been bottling with his dad William who was bottling in Toronto since 1861. James and 2 brothers Alexander and Francis were bottlers like there dad.James Matthews had a soda water place on the southern portions of Dovercourt Road, near Queen in the early 1880s. He was not in the business in 1873, so that's a new wagon for a new business.
