Evocative Images of Lost Toronto

"Never saddle a dead horse."

The above quote comes to us courtesy of The Crosby Co and others. (See below link)

http://www.slingchoker.com/sling2/crosby/ii/ii36.htm

Within the second pic, these men have no idea that they are at risk of major injury by installing and/or using

a chain/ring/wire rope, c/w Crosby clips combination with the "closer to the eye", "saddled dead (end) horse".

If anyone here believes that this was only common during "The good/bad old days", they would be mistaken.

Great (if sad) streetcar photos. Taken in old TTC yard that used to be south of Front Street between Frederick and Lower Sherbourne. The Young People's Theatre - which was a TTC stable and then a powerhouse - now occupies the northern part of this site. The Gross Machinery building shown in a couple of the photos was at 108 Front Street East (before they moved to 18 Lower Jarvis, where Market Wharf is now.)

Funny, I was just there today. Those trees were so beautiful. It's easy to see that this was a fairly well-to-do area. Hard to believe a Harvey's now sits where that mansion was.
