East Don Trail Project

Checked out the trail earlier today and noticed the base asphalt layer is in, but still nothing for that bridge ramp. I asked a couple of workers there and they said maybe within the next one to two weeks for the bridge ramp, but the final asphalt layer won't be done until next year.

Great news about the asphalt. Sure does take a long time to assemble those ramps, though.

Not uncommon to allow the bottom layer of asphalt to 'cure' for a while (particularly if they still have heavy machinery around) but the bridge ramp does seem rather slow.

Is the bridge at the Forks the final one or will a Corten Steel one be slid onto the existing supports at the end of the project??

That was sudden. The north ramp took months.

The south ramp also took a few months to do. If @ThenWhat doesn't have photos of that new ramp, maybe @TwinHuey can do a drone shot soon?

What took the time is the foundations and they have been working on those on south side since August! Adding the metal ramp is not time consuming.

Don't have photos this time. There is still some work being done around the bridge, but the whole trail is now easily walkable and rideable again (if you don't mind riding on frozen snow).

Thanks for the report! The Coxwell stairs are indeed treacherous in winter. I rarely run in Taylor Creek Park once the snow arrives as much of the trail is shaded and remains icy. I imagine the exit just east of Woodbine to Haldon Avenue/Cosburn would be better and likely rideable.
