Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

When you said dropped I interpreted that as cancelled - glad I'm wrong!

LOL, 'the kids' keep giving words new meanings; you have to stay 'fresh'; gotta know when something's dropping (like a new single); and when that single is yeet worthy and when its merely basic.

I used to be with it. But then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it. And it sounds weird and scary to me. It'll happen to you.

Are your kids falling behind in the current lingo? You must introduce them to Uncle @Undead ; he'll have them confusing you no end!
Maybe they are? The last new word they introduced me to that I can think of at the moment was "chonky".

Additionally, a decade+ younger co-worker who I've bonded with over a love for music routinely says, "man, that track SLAPS!!!" - the first time he said that I had a brief moment of befuddlement that I quickly obscured to appear slightly less lame: "Err...YES!! YES IT REALLY DOES TOTALLY SLAP!!!"

For those cycling east of the Rouge along the waterfront, the City of Pickering has launched a Waterfront trail committee who had their inaugural meeting today, including details of the current/future work.

  • boardwalk/trail replacement is ongoing (detailed design drawings 50-60%)...a reminder of what this may look like:

Looks like the east spit east waterfront/boardwalk is being budgeted for this year. Pickering's mayor (who has been granted strong mayor powers and plans on using them) has proposed the above be included in the '24 budget, funded half from casino revenues and the other half development charges.

A reminder of location for those unfamiliar (at the bottom of liverpool road; nuke plant would be directly adjacent to the right of marked area):

The mayor is also looking to get a bigger gravel parking lot built on the east entrance of the new boardwalk somewhere in the marked section below (nuke plant south east of marked area):

So the City just dropped plans for turning Ellesmere into a complete street from Orton Park Road to Kingston Road.

The project will add sidewalk where that is missing, and either an Multi-use Path or Cycle Tracks along the entire length. The timeline is to implement this is 2026.
This obviously overlaps with the BRT project, but is separate. I'm not clear on what the presumed timing of the BRT is; but I assume its not thought to be particularly close.
While I'm mulling through the Pickering budget...

The '26 timeline above lines up with Durhams' first section of the BRT cycle tracks:

Some of it is not planned until '28-'33. Ill have to lok back at BRT documents to see if the numbering above lines up with particular segments. Off the top of my head perhaps the CN bridge choke point could be why some tracks come in at a later time, as it seems like a hefty portion:
