An ideas what sections are coming out?
I was an engineer with the city, I'd simply refuse to sign the drawings. Here's the news report: https://toronto.citynews.ca/2024/10...of-bikes-lanes-on-bloor-yonge-and-university/.
It looks like they're amending the bill to compel Toronto to remove the bike lanes.
Every time people bring up removing parking they forget that most houses south of Bloor between roncy and ~coxwell don't have a garage as standard. When I was in Montreal last week, I noticed a lot of the bike lanes only occupied one side of the street and were bi-directional. It seemed as if the city could achieve protected bike lanes while also adding in an extra lane for traffic if it wasn't for the crazy amount of street parking. The street parking in Montreal is insane! One of my coworkers in Montreal told me when he gets home after his shift, it takes him 25 minutes to drive around his neighborhood to find a parking spot. Apparently there's a lack of parking garages in DT Montreal.
Since Doug Ford demands roads to be widened to accommodate bike lanes, and since there's no room to widen roads in most of DT Toronto, the only other option is to build downtown parking garages and make street parking illegal. That way we can construct bike lanes without sacrificing lanes of traffic.
Though University is an odd choice - how often is that actually congested.
The idea that discussion of existing or planned cycling infrastructure that's under threat of being removed or cancelled can't take place in the thread titled "Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)" is ridiculousGuys. Don’t make the mods reparent y’all again. You need to do this in the other obscure chat.
I work on University Avenue and rarely see congestion let alone gridlock, even during rush hour, anywhere north of Osgoode. It has greatly improved my experience as a pedestrian.I was an engineer with the city, I'd simply refuse to sign the drawings.

Oh well, it's a good opportunity to add 24/7 parking to Yonge.
It's Doug's driving route. It's in his crosshairs.I was an engineer with the city, I'd simply refuse to sign the drawings.

So he's not even going to bother looking at the data first? What a scumbag.
Doug Ford doesn't care about data or evidence or facts. He cares about targeting people he doesn't like and punishing them. He is indeed a scumbag. So he's not even going to bother looking at the data first? What a scumbag.
The Environmental Registry Office's website is offline. I dont want to make any assumptions but the timing is suspicious. Here's the news report: https://toronto.citynews.ca/2024/10...of-bikes-lanes-on-bloor-yonge-and-university/.
